Moms, we have been receiving a large amount of questions regarding quinoa – what is quinoa, what are its’ benefits, how is it prepared, etc. Did you read our post regarding superfoods? Well, quinoa is a type of seed that belongs to a group of supernutrients! Why? Because it is extremely rich in proteins and minerals and contains special herbal compounds such as quercetin and kaempferol, which have an even greater antioxidant power than vitamins. Research has shown that these two ingredients have anti-inflammatory, anti-fungal and anti-carcinogenic properties and at the same time increase the level of energy in the body. Although it is still categorized as a seed, quinoa is usually prepared as a type of grain therefore making it simple to combine with various dishes. Quinoa can act as a substitute for potatoes in croquettes, meat in burgers, be added to salads and soups or even be a meal all on its own.
